Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Society Silk Embroidered Pillowtop Yellow Roses Item Number C19305 Erroneously identified elsewhere as an Arts and Crafts convention, these pillowtop pieces are actually done in the society silk style. Using the 19th century English Kensington stitch, each piece demonstrates the best techniques for shading and padding in embroidery designs that reflect realistic and natural elements. Embroidered pillow tops were a favorite of Victorian embroideresses...their colorful patterns and whimsical sayings were cheerful and uplifting additions to everyday decor. This one just screams "Yellow Rose of Texas"...heavenly and perfect embroidered silk roses are artfully arranged in the center of a neutral cotton ground (last photo is best for color of ground). Notice the amazing details...thorns, intricate shading...The edges are rough so this could be used in many ways...framed, as a pillow or finished as a centerpiece or doily...a beautiful and artistic piece of Victoriana in near perfect condition except for some age on one corner, shown below. Offered in excellent condition, as found. c.1880's - 1910 20.5" X 19" Item Sold Antique Victorian society silk embroidered pillowtop, Yellow Roses $125
