Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Society Silk Embroidery Pillowtop Violets, Motto, Hearts Item Number C19505 Erroneously identified elsewhere as an Arts and Crafts convention, these pillowtop pieces are actually done in the society silk style. Using the 19th century English Kensington stitch, each piece demonstrates the best techniques for shading and padding in embroidery designs that reflect realistic and natural elements. Embroidered motto pillow tops were a favorite of Victorian embroidresses...their colorful patterns and whimsical sayings were cheerful and uplifting additions to everyday decor. Few of these have survived in such beautiful condition as this piece, "I wonder who's kissing her now" with it s perfect little hears and violet wreath. The ground is a neutral beige to ecru and is best represented for color in the first photo. Stunning...more beautiful in person....yes!! Excellent condition, offered as found. c.1880's -- 1910. 19" X 20.5" Item Sold Antique Victorian society silk embroidered pillowtop, motto $145
Above best for color...photos below were darkened to show pattern...
