Mythological Satyrs loosely symbolize merriment and delightful pleasures as with this splendid Italian embroidered sham depicting two Satyrs holding an overflowing urn or fountain. Exceptional handwork, cutwork and embroidery surrounds the central handmade filet lace panel and is finished with a narrow width of handmade filet lace trim. The back is finished with a simple drawn hem lapped close....every stitch is applied by hand on this cream colored fine cotton piece. Superb! Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1890's - 1920. 15.75" round
