One of two nearly identical antique Italian linen boudoir shams is beautifully designed with needlelace inserts and border that form a central panel for the monogram. The front and back are attached with an intricate needlelace border that shows when the pillow is inserted -- Oh MY!! An open end was apparently "closed" with silk ribbons that were woven through the lace and tied at each corner...remnants of the ribbon remain attached, see below. A central monogram is distinctive for it's crisp diamond design....beautifully hand executed, "LK"...surname "K". Cream linen lawn is medium weight and extraordinarily fine.... a slightly deep shade than the other similar piece, as shown in the final photo....likely Edwardian, understated, an amazing piece. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1900 - 1920. 15" X 12.5"
