This whimsical embroidered piece was likely purchased as a start-to-finish kit that was completed but never made up into a pillow. "Her only rivals" suggests he's really a good guy at heart, just taken to simple vices that can be easily tolerated...what a commentary on the age of the piece...and so fun! Course natural linen ground is nicely embroidered with a colorful motto and design that was initially printed in color on the background. The edges are rough so this could be used in many ways...framed, as a pillow or finished as a centerpiece or doily...a fun piece of vintage Americana. Offered in excellent condition, as found. c.1920's - 40's 20.5" X 20.5"
