Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Society Silk Embroidered Pillowtop
Item Number C24406 Erroneously identified elsewhere as an Arts and Crafts convention, these pillowtop pieces are actually done in the society silk style of the Victorian era. Using the 19th century English Kensington stitch, each piece demonstrates the best techniques for shading and padding in embroidery designs that reflect realistic and natural elements. Embroidered pillow tops were a favorite of Victorian embroidresses...their colorful patterns and whimsical mottos were cheerful and uplifting additions to everyday decor. Perfect embroidered silk daisies are artfully arranged around the center of a neutral cotton ground on this Victorian embroidered silk pillowtop. Notice the details of the stems, leaves and falling petals....makes you want to pick them up and put them in a vase! The edges are rough so this could be used in many ways...framed, as a pillow or finished as a centerpiece or doily...a beautiful and artistic piece of Victoriana in near perfect condition. A maker's mark tells us this was an embroidery "kit" produced by Richardson's Silks, design number 4305. Charming! Offered in excellent, unused condition, as found. c.1880's - 1910 20" X 19" Antique Victorian society silk embroidered daisies pillowtop $125
