Splendidly embroidered antique society silk roses are strewn about the opening of an antique linen picture frame mat as if they had just been cut from my own "Mr. Lincoln" rose bush and placed there for these photos....Beautiful work and design combine to make this a truly collectable piece, but ever-so useful for the pragmatic collector among us. Not to be placed in a drawer or packed away in acid free tissue limbo, this piece was meant to be seen and enjoyed every day....
The gold painted gessoed frame is wood and is in remarkable condition. It needs a new back and some reliable picture wire...Fabulous piece. Ok. I'm done gushing...Offered as found, with very minor age, as shown, in excellent condition. c.1890 - 1910 picture opening -- 3.5" X 5.5" Frame -- 8.75" X 10.75"
