This is a delicate, large antique blond silk doily or centerpiece. The tape lace is laid out in a montage of large snow flakes that are joined in the center with an elegant circular pattern. The embedded "leaves" are expertly made wheatears characteristically found in numerous mid to late 19th century European laces like Torchon and Bedfordshire. This is an extraordinarily fine example in superior condition with just one tiny age spot and one center brad that is frayed but not broken. c.1880's 33" X 16"
