Antique Towel with
Turkey Red Monogram

This antique linen gentleman's wash towel is part of a collection of 4 that came from the same estate. This one is in pristine condition and bears a turkey red cross stitch monogram "L" or "TN". The corner position of the monogram on personal linens usually indicated they belonged to the gentleman of the house. The antique linen is of a medium to heavy weight with a tailored masculine damask stripe. Despite it's weight and age, the fabric is fabulously soft, sturdy and antique white in color. One little oxidation spot, lower right, which does not show when displayed. This is a superb collector piece that would be stunning with other pieces from the collection. It is shown below with F02303, which has been sold. Perhaps these were a set, one for hands and shaving, the other for bath? Pristine condition, freshly laundered and pressed. c. 1880's
