A backdrop of drawnwork frames the scene, which is surrounded by an elaborate border and swag of signature Appenzell embroidery. This embroidery style originated in Appenzell, Switzerland and has a distinctive set of common elements, all of which are represented in this fabulous set. Exceptional and rare to find a matching set...Both are in excellent condition, one with gray speckles shown below, and have been freshly laundered and pressed. c.1900 -- 1920 15" X 24"
