Antique Towels -- Homespun Linen with
Turkey Red Monogram

What a wonderful and rare find this was....Two antique homespun linen towels with turkey red monograms! The heavy cream linen towels have interesting woven borders and hand knotted fringe. The turkey red monogram, "CL" or "GL" is neatly stitched on each on the left hand side just above the borders. The fringe is in excellent condition. One towel has a very faint gray area that I could only get to show up in the photo by holding it up to the light, see below. This looks far worse in the photo and does not show when the piece is displayed. There are other common imperfections found in homespuns: a few little dots, a discolored thread. All are common on hand wovens and should be considered signs of authenticity. These remarkable pieces are well over 140 years old. Simply divine for the collector of antique linens! Considering age, these are in excellent condition. They have been freshly laundered and pressed. c.1850's Huge, 27" X 60" including fringes.
