In my relatively short adult "linen" life of about 10 years I have come to believe that there is a best of everything. This pair has become my standard to judge the quality of damask, monogramming and drawn hem work on antique bath towels. These were never used and came to me still crisp and heavily polished. They have been gently laundered to remove the lightest bit of age and still retain much of the glaze that makes them feel brand new. They are heavy creamy white linen with deep hand drawn hems. The center pattern is a simple repeating nosegay. The elegant damask border is unpretentious with repeating roses. The monogram "E" (it could also be an "L") is crisp, perfectly executed and heavily padded. Pristine and spotless, excellent condition, freshly laundered and unused. Perfect. The best. c.1900 - 1910. Large, 27.5" X 46"
