Splendid Italian linen towel is beautifully embroidered and trimmed with braided and knotted fringes and a row of Venetian drawnwork at both ends. The embroidery is punctuated with a sampler of elaborate drawn lace fillings characteristic of the Italian embroidery style. The heavy cream linen is quite substantial and reminds me of French linen from the same period. The embroidery is perfect and the fillings artful...I would expect nothing less! Huge and lovely for your grand villa by the sea or vineyard chateau. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1900 - 1920 27" X 80" including fringes
