Hand Embroidered "Maria"

Splendid Italian linen towel is beautifully hand embroidered with the moniker "Maria" in script and finished with an elaborate pulled lace (or "punch work") border. My, oh MY! Fine creamy Italian linen will likely launder to creamy white or white. These have never been used and retain some of the original finishing glaze that will disappear the first time they are washed. A wee bit of embroidery marking powder or ink may not launder, shown below. Threads along the edge were never snipped by the original maker. I would be happy to do this for you...just let me know. Huge and lovely for your Maria's grand sea villa. Offered as found, in excellent condition. c.1900 - 1920 27" X 80"
