Sweet and whitest white antique linen hanky is embroidered with turkey red and finished with deep, fluffy ruffles. Oh, I love ruffles...but!..I digress. Ok. I have no idea what the embroidery is or if, perhaps the work is unfinished. I rather felt like I was looking at an Escher drawing with a hidden angle that was meant to tease my brain. Are thesee Nordic inlets?...or a secret treasure map?? Whew...but it is charming and fun for the period and beautifully made. The ruffles are sewn by hand and are edged with a tiny row of Valenciennes lace. Excellent condition, freshly laundered and pressed. c.1880's - 1900 15", including ruffles
