Antique Alencon Net Lace Flounce
with Eyelets

Though I believe this is a machine net ground I have reason to believe it is quite old. Under a very powerful magnifying glass it clearly looks like the twisted hexagonal pattern of the alencon net style. The eyelets and floral pattern is all hand applied...a marvelously long length net lace flounce! There are a couple of shaddowy oxidation stains, one is long and narrow as seen below. There are only a couple of tiny holes that you must look for to find. This piece has been hand laundered and spent an hour or so in the sun. Extraordinary condition for it's age! It has been gathered at the top but could easily be released from the binding. 10" deep. Bottom running length is 2 yards plus 3" (total of 75").
