Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Lace Bonnet Dutch Bevern Lace Copy by Raschell Lace Machine Item Number L00403 Every so often I come across something so beautiful I have a hard time giving it up. Such is the case with this antique net lace bonnet. I am only a student of lace and have searched high and low for information on this piece. The lace on the band appears to have been crimped with an old fashioned "iron in the fire" crimper. My antique tool friend tells me these were in use for several hundred years and are worth a fortune now... The lace of this wonderful old bonnet is a Dutch Bevern bobbin lace copy by the Raschell lace machine**. The voile insert and band have been hand tucked at the bottom and it looks as if the body of the voile was at one time crimped. The size of this piece suggests that it may be a child's bonnet. This would be a great piece for display. This piece is being sold as found and was heavily starched by it's previous owner. Color is antique white, somewhat darker than photos. There are a few age spots, shown and a couple of tiny holes in the voile. 9.5" from top to bottom, 7.25" front to back at deepest point. c.1880 - 1900 $65 **Lace identification by Kate Henry...thank you, Kate!
