Rare and beautiful Flemish Mechlin lace lappet. Part of a European estate...a lace collector carefully preserved this astonishing piece for many years. The lace is entirely hand made...it has been expertly pieced, shown below, to form the lappet, and is in near perfect condition. The soft gimp and many knots are evident upon tactile examination despite it's remarkably fine texture. Superb condition, museum quality. 35.5" X 3.5" c.1740's
