Antique silk lace fichu or veil is hand Irish Limerick needlelace on machine net** and is offered in near perfect condition. A fichu was an indispensable ladies costume accessory during the 19th century. It was draped about the neck and sometimes tucked into the top of the neckline. Hand needlelace elements were stitched on to silk machine net to form the pattern. What an amazing piece of work in both form and execution! Delicate but not fragile....wear it for sure, or show it off in a display... This piece shows little if any use and is offered in near perfect condition, as found. c.1850's - 80's 19.5" X 42"
