I wonder if the maker of this lovely set was familiar with fine French Porthault embroideries? The chain stitch (a - la Porthault) embroidery is perfectly executed and of a quality suited to that name...But the quaint details of indecision on where the drawn work should be and how large to make the napkins reveal this set to be homemade. These small issues are hardly detectable and can easily be ignored for the stunning Arts and Crafts embroidery and delectably soft taupe/ecru linen. The napkins vary in size from 19" X 20.5" to 17.5" X 19". The table cloth is perfect, with a light smudge near one iris. Excellent condition, offered as found.
