Antique French Alencon Lace Mats, Runner Set, Unused

Antique French Alencon lace mats and runner are superbly detailed and rich in various woven patterned fillings. Six of the mats and the runner were never used. Two retain their original labels, "Made in France". The other six were used once and required a soak. They lightened considerably, as you can see from the photos, below. The rich, paisley patterned lace is over embroidered by machine (as with all vintage French Alencon lace) with a fine gimp or cordonnet outline that enhances and defines the figures and flowers.
These pieces are also over embroidered with fillings that give depth to the pattern. Several pieces have minor flaws in the net, the worst is shown below. An absolute treat for the eyes that mixes well with your monogrammed pieces -- see an example below. My, oh my! For your frilliest table at your finest hour. Six mats laundered once by me, excellent condition. The other six are in excellent, unused condition, as is the runner. c.1900 - 1920's 12 mats -- 12" X 17" runner -- 16" X 51"
