Heavy but finely woven antique French linen damask tablecloth and matching napkins are each fabulously (my new word) monogrammed "PC" or "PG" with over-embroidered wisps of flowers and leaves that join the two letters....be still, my romantic heart! The detailed white linen damask pattern of Tickseed bouquets makes me want to take my shoes off and wriggle my toes in them...I promise, I didn't...really! The dense damask pattern turns the corner on both the napkins and the tablecloth to form a thick floral border that surrounds the center field. The double monogram is repeated on the tablecloth at both ends and is slightly smaller on the napkins.
The hems are "turned up" and finished by machine in a European style that is quite common and forms a sturdy and decorative border on two sides....sooo French! Superior hand embroidery and design, imported from France and offered as found, in excellent condition. c.1890's - 1920
