Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Rosaline Lace Runner Tray Cloth Item Number M10506 This splendid example of antique Rosaline lace in natural linen floss forms a lovely runner and matching mats set for your most elegant table. This wonderfully feminine lace has it's origins in Brussels, Belgium. The methods and patterns used in these laces reflect earlier 18th century Venetian needle laces and constituted a resurgence in the lace making craft in this area. Cantù lace is is slightly different in presentation with characteristic tendrils that terminate in tightly formed buds. Rosaline lace is a simpler form, as with this piece, but lends itself to elaborately detailed patterns with continuous lines. A bit of age in several areas is minor and will soak right out but does not detract. Delicately beautiful, creamy ecru and in excellent condition, offered as found. c.1890 - 1910. 6 mats -- 10.5" X 15.25" runner -- 13.75" X 38" Item Sold From the estate of a prominent mid-century Michigan industrialist.
