Thick, hand woven slightly nubby "country" table linen set is quintessentially antique and French with figural stags regally posed in each corner and a perfect turkey red embroidered double monogram "PB". The cream linen is substantial and detailed with an outer border of flora and urns surrounding an inner field of four repeating floral themes. The monogram is repeated on the matching tablecloth at each end, as is the hunt theme at each corner. The tablecloth is long and narrow, perfect for those amazing country style plank tables – quintessentially French. The hems are turned “up” and are finished by machine, a common treatment on antique French table linen which is meant to be both functional and decorative as they are stitched absolutely perfectly in tiny stitches that form a tidy border. A small hole on the selvedge is the only flaw, shown below. Excellent condition, offered as found. c.1860’s – 80’s, 12 napkins, each 27” X 35” Tablecloth -- 54" X 112" Monogram -- 3.5” X 2.5”
