Heavy but finely woven antique French linen damask tablecloth and matching napkins are each monogrammed "SM" with over-embroidered wisps of flowers and leaves that join the two letters....be still, my romantic heart! The white linen damask pattern of jubilant sunflowers are finished with open weave centers that replicate the seeds. The damask pattern turns the corner on both the napkins and the tablecloth to form a floral border that surrounds the center field. The double monogram appears in the center of both the tablecloth and the napkins and is smaller on the napkins.
The hems are "turned up" and finished by machine in a European style that is quite common and forms a sturdy and decorative border on two sides....sooo French! Superior hand embroidery and design, imported from France and freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1890's - 1920
