once wrapped a precious bundle on one very special day...
Embroidered and ruffled organdy antique christening blanket is worked in the Normandy style of pieced lace and finished with deep ruffles. Inserts of hand made bobbin lace frame the embroidered rose bud vignettes.
The center medallion is an exquisitely embroidered bouquet of two open roses with one small bud between them, forming a beautiful picture of the meaning and purpose of christening.
A wee bit of wear, shown below, is the only "flaw" to the top. The a quilted pale green satin blanket underneath has fractured in several areas. This is limited and would not interfere with it's use or display. Romantic, meaningful in every way...Offered as found, in excellent condition as shown. c.1890 - 1920 25.5" X 29"
