Amazing embroidery and Venetian drawnwork adorn this pair of antique linen layover shams. Originally a part of a wedding set, no doubt, these were intended to cover a luxurious pair of pillows during the day and would have been removed for sleeping at night. The shams are identical, featuring a beautiful flower garden embroidered on clear, fine white Italian linen with a variety of stitches and fillings which add depth and interest to the piece...These are absolutely lovely....the details are endless...for your best bed -- a delight to behold. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition as shown. c.1900 -- 1920 24" X 36"
