Elaborate cutwork and drawn lace layover shams will stop you in your tracks (look down, sit down, take a breath) ...these are amazing to behold, better in person. Frothy, feminine, foo foo, frilly...well, not frilly, but certainly over-the-top amazing, these white antique linen layover shams no doubt took many many days to complete. Two elaborate vine-like cutwork borders alternate with a deep Venetian drawnwork row that finishes in each corner with a Victorian spider-web form, a symbol of good luck, if I remember correctly. The two borders surround the center cutwork monogram "E" -- ok. Now you can breathe.
Stunning to behold...and even more so when laid over your pillows. I do believe these would finish a bed made up with an antique matelasse -- can you see it in your mind's eye? Oh MY! A worn area in one corner and one or two other tiny holes are the only flaws. Freshly laundered and pressed, in amazing condition, as described. c.1890 -- 1910 26.5" X 28.5"
