Antique homespun linen pillowcases or "slips" are beautifully finished with a hand embroidered monogram, "MC"....actually, the "C" is a "T" in this antiquated lettering style but it is interpreted today as a "C". It's up to you!
Nubby homespun linen is medium to heavy weight and sprinkled with occasional slubby threads. Both ends are open, hence they are referred to as "slips", and are reinforced with tape binding as these edges were on the original selvedge. Cream to natural color, shown below may lighten a bit more in the wash, though these have been soaked and pressed by me. The linen is quite soft as these have been used and loved for many years. A single small area of age is the only flaw...it will disappear with time. They are in excellent condition. c.1870's - 1910 20.75" X 30"
