I'll tell you a secret. You know how the shoe maker's children are barefoot and the dressmaker's clothes are threadbare?? Well, the linen lady usually keeps only the cases with holes...and she's found they last for years with daily use!
Aaahhh. Now it's out. So you can buy these, and the other shabbies -- mostly "single's" -- listed too, with out regrets. "Why," you ask, "did you not keep these?" Because my cupboard is full, as they just don't wear out! HA!
Vintage Irish linen pillowcases with deeply drawn hems have several tiny holes on each to earn them the "shabby" distinction....The holes are from slubs that have dropped from the fabric over years of love and use. One corner, shown below, has more wear and a hole on the seam that could be closed up if you are a wee bit cleaver with a needle and thread. Have no fear, though. You will have to really try to ruin these, I assure you. Daily use will just not do it! :-) Freshly laundered and pressed, in good to excellent condition, as shown. c.1940's - 50's 20" X 33"
