This antique handmade filet lace runner was found with a collection of handmade laces that were destined to become part of a Normandy pieced lace tablecloth or sham....She had every kind of handmade lace, pieces already cut and tacked to forms, pieces pinned together for a specific purpose. This piece was one of few in the basket in near perfect condition, ready to be rescued and used once again!
This lovely runner has some very minor damage but is still absolutely useful and beautiful to be used as it was intended. The snowflake patterned panels and poinsettia leaf border give this piece a Christmas feel but it would be lovely displayed all year long. Note in the close up photo the classic over-under left to right pattern of filet lace. Knots and slubs are readily apparent upon close inspection. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1880's - 1900 12" X 30"
