My soon to be 76 year old mother informed me this morning that she is going to the beach for a week in May with a couple of her pals. I am happy to report that I refrained from my usual cautionary recitation and gave her my blessing instead. I am still smiling at the thought and deeply hope that I will have friends to play with when I am three quarters of a century old...

I assure you, this fabulous antique Italian linen and lace embroidered runner has just as much, if not more "play" left than my mom does! Creamy, medium light weight linen is finished with an embroidered border of repeating, classically Italian themes and hand made filet lace. Separations in the lace, areas of minor wear and small holes tell us it has been used and loved for many, many years. But as you can see, it is still quite beautiful. Freshly laundered and pressed, in good, useful condition. c.1900 23" X 71"
