Vintage and Antique Linens by Em's Heart Antique Kashmir Wool Paisley Shawl Embroidered Patchwork Item Number S09305 Stunning antique wool Kashmir paisley shawl has classic and evolved teardrop forms in an elaborately embroidered and pieced design. The tapestry maker signed his work in white on the black center panel but time and use have worn most of his embroidered signature away. There are about six tiny holes or near holes through out, with none more than 1/4". Most of these are wee separations of the patchwork. There is a fray on one corner, shown below, about the size of a quarter. There are a few minor separations along the rainbow border, shown below. Despite it's size and method of construction, the piece is not weighty and cumbersome...It seems to flow as one piece. The array of colors presents as red with fuchsia accents though perhaps more than a dozen colors were used in the embroidery. It is rare to find a such a piece in this fine condition. Balanced, nearly smooth and appearing seamless, it would make a fabulous table cover in your Bohemian Paris or Manhattan apartment, don't you think?! Offered in excellent condition with consideration of age, as found. c.1850's - 70 78" X 80" Reasonable offers will be considered $2400
Above best for color -- shown in bright sunlight.
