Gi-normous (thank you,
Claire for this wonderful new word!) antique French linen tablecloth is trimmed
all around with 6" deeply gathered ruffles...be still my heart. Please
don't ask about the conversation I had with my husband about knocking down a
wall in the dining room so we could buy a larger table so I could keep this
beautiful piece....No. I'm not crazy. And, Yes. It's that
amazing.
Antique French linen
tablecloth (perhaps this was an altar cloth?) is heavy but finely woven and
finished with hand drawn hems, a row of hand made Dutch lace and ruffles.
Every stitch was made by hand and represents a labor of love as this would have
sent the modern seamstress through several eyeglass prescriptions and numerous
therapy appointments at just the thought (we are so spoiled, aren't we?).
The rich, creamy white linen is quite substantial and when ironed will
absolutely stop your guests in their tracks.
Imagine with me for a
moment that you, like me, don't have a 12 foot dining table...hmmm....could this
be a swag for a clerestory window?....or split in two (GASP) for drapes??...or
split in two (Gasp again!) for matching twin bed spreads or dust ruffles???
Fabulous designer piece for your most froo froo imagination.
