Rare larger vintage
French Normandy lace bed cover with attached top pillow cover and bottom panel
is finished the perfect scallops of pieces lace and embroidered linen all the
way down both sides. The is a glorious piece....whew! It was so
large I had to lay it out on the grass and photograph it hanging out over the
deck 12 feet above (it was worth it to see it all at once!). A very few
minor lace separations have been carefully repaired. There are several
very minor and tiny holes in the lace....but as you can see, they are difficult
to detect in the field and do not threaten the integrity of the piece.
For your most fanciful
night or a daily treat for your heart, this piece also has an interesting
history** to make showing it off much more fun. Feminine and fabulous.
Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1920's 86"
wide X 94" long from edge to edge. Center panel is 52" wide, scallops are
17" deep on both sides, and end panel is 8" deep. Perfect for a double
size bed

**All of
the pieces in this collection, listed separately, were purchased from the granddaughter of a woman who was the
personal assistant to Florenz Ziegfeld during the early part of last century, founder of the
Broadway show, the Ziegfeld Follies. Family tradition has it that this set
and the French ribbon embroidered bed cover,
S19007, were gifts from him.
