Gorgeous antique cotton coverlet or quilt top is pieced of turkey red embroidered squares, each depicting a different pattern...."Good Night" and "Good Morning" leaves open the question of it's originally intended use. Is it really an unfinished quilt top?? Perhaps it was used as a summer bed cover....does it matter?! Goodness, what a beautiful piece of Victorian turkey red embroidery! An odd size makes this piece unique versatile as both a coverlet and a tablecloth. Fancy work hand embroidery runs between each piece and edges are hemmed by machine. Cotton is crisp and ever-so white. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition. c.1890 -- 1920 74" square
