Tea Table Cover with Fringes

I confess, I could have photographed this piece all day....
Heavily embroidered antique table cover in pink and shades from Champaign to Cafe aulet is breathtaking in a geometric pattern of stylized mums and drippy hand knotted fringe. The cotton ground is ecru but can hardly be seen as the embroidery covers virtually every inch of the piece. I conducted a burn test on the fibers (snipped from the fringe) and confirmed my suspicion that this piece was embroidered in rayon and not silk....not surprising, though, as rayon was considered to be a premium fiber superior to silk for it's colorfastness, wash ability and resistance to wrinkles....and also not surprising that a "new" and fashionable style of embroidery (Arts and Crafts) would be executed in the latest and greatest fiber available at the time!
This glorious piece is a work of art in every way. It is nearly perfect with just two or three threads showing on the top side that are just "tails" of a finished length of embroidery -- they are not broken threads. The pink is vivid but not overwhelming....and oh, the knotted fringe! Stunning. Offered as found in near perfect condition c.1900 -- 1920's
